How did a short girl photograph super tall 6'3" High School Seniors?

These seniors were so much fun to photograph! But I knew in order to capture them properly this 4’11” photographer would need to be very strategic. Here’s a couple of tricks I use when I’m photographing very tall people.

First, You can guarantee that I had my trusty step ladder with me, with these guys being 6’3” , and me at 4’11” my ladder came in quite handy! I almost always have my step ladder with me, it provides the additional height I often need.

Second, utilizing steps, benches or even the ground are perfect options for creating variety and height friendly angles to photograph.

Learning to work with my 4’11” height instead of begrudging my short stature has expanded my strengths. What do you see as a weakness? If you really explore what you view as a “weakness” or a disadvantage, I’m quite certain you will find a new lens to look through.
